About ProvinceSpeedingLaws
We built the tool we wished we had when we got pulled over on the Trans-Canada Highway.
Canada's traffic laws are an incredibly complex patchwork. Every province has its own Highway Traffic Act, its own demerit point thresholds, and its own unique formulas for calculating victim fine surcharges.
If you get a speeding ticket, figuring out the actual financial cost, whether the points will transfer back to your home province, and how it will affect your insurance is nearly impossible using official government websites. The information is scattered across dozens of PDFs and dense legal statutes.
Our Mission
ProvinceSpeedingLaws was created to democratize access to Canadian traffic law data. We believe every driver has the right to understand their liabilities instantly, without having to pay a paralegal just to decipher the ticket.
- 100% Data BackedEvery calculation on this site is derived directly from provincial statutes, including the exact math used by the courts for surcharges.
- Interprovincial TrackingWe are the only platform to map out the Canadian Driver Licence Compact (CDLC) to tell you if out-of-province tickets follow you home.
Disclaimer
While we strive for 100% accuracy and update our algorithms whenever provinces pass new legislation, this tool is strictly for educational purposes. We are not lawyers, and this is not legal advice. If your ticket involves criminal charges, stunt driving, or you are at risk of a licence suspension, you should immediately consult a licensed paralegal or traffic lawyer in your jurisdiction.
